Trump’s Win Puts Europe's Globalist Regimes in Check
Trump’s triumphant return to the White House after years of lawfare and fictional scandals like the Russia hoax is a headwind for Davos Man and the Imperial Capitals of Europe.
Trump’s back. Can someone please check on this person above?
History books will be written about this man, but this is a free Substack sent on Inauguration Day and during the MLK holiday so I’ll try to be brief. Trump’s built a diverse coalition, increased his base and persuaded ex-Democratic Party donors to see the world the way he says it.
How does he see it?
In short, Western-led globalism needs a big pause as it transferred wealth from the middle income labor classes into the hands of developing economies, most of it China, with no evidence of an uptick in democracy as a result, let alone a decline in wars. We are constantly walking a tightrope over Niagara Falls, as Margaret Atwood might say. The Western regime is always at war somewhere because the Imperial Capital needs appropriations for spy games, ammo, new drone R&D, and escorts at five-star hotels.
Trump is also against open borders, a policy made for the mad scientists of Western globalism.
“So I hear you plebs don’t want to compete with Third World labor and don’t like our one world governance ideas, heh? Fine! We will bring the Third World to you, instead!”
Trump’s return will lead to changes in the other Western imperial capitals – London and Brussels, home to NATO. The European Commission is there, too, but that is really where unelected political dorks go to make life worse for everyone else.
Obviously, one of the big voices of the Trump MAGA movement, politically speaking, has been Elon Musk. Musk is going to overthrow the British and German governments at this point, just for sharing his opinion. They must be pissed that TikTok is not going to be banned because a TikTok ban provided them cover to banning X in Europe.
“Well, what’s the problem? Don’t lecture us on free speech! You just banned TikTok!” The best-laid plans go to waste.
The Europeans will now treat Elon like he’s Vladimir Putin circa 2017 USA. He and/or his platform will be blamed for the regime getting beat in the polls, especially if AfD wins in February in Germany, which is expected.
The end game is always to pull Trump from Musk. The expectation is that if Musk falls, other ex-Democrat donors from Silicon Valley who came out for Trump will go dark. These were always people from “polite society” that could be counted on, without the need of official coercion, to speak on behalf of the regime’s wishes and plans. They are a necessary function of the powers.
We don’t know if they will be successful in this attempt, which begins and ends in Europe.
What we do know is that the Trump win gives the Europeans a chance to push back more aggressively against its rulers.
Next Up: Make Europe Great Again
The center no longer holds. Europe’s political landscape is fracturing, with right-wing populists emerging as a potent force. Should Germany follow Austria’s path, the implications for EU policy, particularly on immigration, energy, and economic growth, will be profound—and markets will notice. – Vlad Signorelli, Bretton Woods Research
Germany’s political elites are watching Austria’s latest developments with mounting concern. The longstanding strategy of maintaining a cordon sanitaire—keeping far-right parties from power—collapsed in late 2024.
We begin 2025 with The Regime facing real threats of losing control of setting the foreign and domestic policies in key European states.
For starters, Austria’s Freedom Party (FPÖ) capitalized on growing voter discontent over immigration, inflation, and green energy policies, propelling itself to the forefront of Austrian politics. In the Sept. 2024 elections, the FPÖ’s “Fortress Austria” platform—focused on strict border controls, remigration, and opposing EU sanctions on Russian energy. The FPÖ emerged as Austria’s largest party with a third of the vote.
The same dynamics are taking place in Germany. They vote on Feb. 23 to remove Olaf and the Greens.
Internal party polls conducted by the Alternative for Germany Party (AfD) now suggest party leader Alice Weidel is more popular as a chancellor candidate than pro-growth conservative Friedrich Merz of the CDU. Weidel’s platform includes reconnecting Russian natural gas to Germany, along with the standard fare of anti-Davos, anti-regime talking points:
No more open borders
Europe cannot be run from Brussels
Common sense energy policy that includes Russia, without being dependent on Russia like before
Stopping the expansion of the Ukraine war before it spills across borders
Advocacy for nation-state, not regime one-world kumbaya doctrine at the homeland’s expense.
Recent polling shows the AfD poised to win at least 20% of the vote, with the Christian Democrats (CDU) still the biggest party. Oddly, the CDU of Angela Merkel is the open borders and green energy policy party, so it looks like Germany has its work cut out for them even if AfD does better than expected.
Vlad Signorelli from Bretton Woods Research thinks these numbers for AfD may be lagging indicators as the party gains momentum after Musk’s endorsement and interview with Weidel. Moreover, a CDU/CSU (which is basically the CDU of Bavaria; that’s where they exist and nowhere else, really) coalition with the left-leaning parties seems implausible because they are pro-open borders, pro-high energy prices, and pro-war.
In several regions, CDU (and CSU in Bavaria) politicians have already begun voting alongside AfD at the local level.
If the AfD secures 20% or more of the vote, a CDU/CSU-AfD coalition would yield a commanding majority, with the old Merkel party being seen as the “softener” to AfD’s “MEGA”…so the WSJ, FT and The Economist can be pleased with MEGA-Lite, so to speak.
Still, “such a coalition would represent a seismic realignment in German politics, akin to Austria’s current shift,” Signorelli says. “The failure of centrist coalitions to address core voter concerns—immigration, inflation, and energy policy—has left establishment parties scrambling for relevance.”
The Regime is losing.

Our favorite doctor, Anthony Fauci, was pardoned today.
He is America’s Mad Scientist. He will forever go down in history not as the man who saved us from the pandemic and schooled Trump on “The Science”, but instead as the man who funded a GMOd SARS virus that killed millions globally. He also advocated for a fake vaccine that did not inoculate against the virus, did not stop transmission of the virus, and had side effects that included heart damage, a side effect that may be long lasting.
