Is China Going To Fake A SARS2 Outbreak?
Episode 11: Just as the U.S. starts to come out of its lockdown doldrums and re-opens, China suddenly rediscovers the pandemic and closes ports and sections of Guangzhou.
Remember that guy from Ancient Aliens with the wild hairdo: “I’m not saying it was the aliens…but it was aliens.”
I’m going to be like that guy for a moment. I’m not saying China’s latest lockdowns are fake Covid…but it probably is.
Oddly enough, just as their main rival and co-dependent lover, the U.S.A, is lifting restrictions put in place over a year ago to “slow the spread” of the Wuhan Sars2 mystery bug, China is going into lockdown again in major cities. This time, it’s the coastal export hubs.
Earlier this week we learned that Yantian, one of the busiest ports in the world, had been shut for the past week because of a Covid outbreak among port staff. Now there is word in the Chinese language press of outbreaks in Guangzhou and Foshan, both in Guangdong Province , on the upswing. The Guardian is writing about this now helping to sew doubt in the British government about lifting restrictions in London on June 21.
Guangzhou city public health officials also reportedly opted to stop their vaccination program. According to WHO data, the CoronaVac, one of three vaccines in use in China, is fairly effective. About as effective as the J&J vaccine. The reason given is due to large lines to get vaccinated. That’s causing some spread, apparently. So now Guangzhou – one of China’s most important cities – has restrictions on 38 districts in and around the urban center.
Flights to Guangzhou Baiyun Airport have been canceled. More than 660 inbound and outbound flights in all, accounting for nearly half of all flights in and out of the city.
In Foshan, people are now being told to shelter in place. If they want to leave the city, gotta have the infamous PCR test with a negative result before they can leave the city confines. Some districts are not allowing residents to leave, only for locals to return home. Once home, you’re locked in.
Sound familiar?
This sounds like January 2020.
All we are missing is for the emergency hospitals to be erected and for footage of old ladies falling down to their deaths on the sidewalks.
How China handles this, I don’t know. They have enjoyed being seen around the world as relatively virus-free. Going through this again would be punishing, though the Chinese people have no say.
What I do know is that the death toll is reportedly low, and while there have been some hospitalizations, most cases are mild. If China really wanted to scare us into submission again, we’d need dead bodies.
Meanwhile, China is blaming it all on the “Indian variant” and some new “British variant”. The messaging from the CCP is that they are now “importing viruses”. The barricades are going back up.
Dear China, please stop.
The new China outbreaks are perfect fodder for the Never-Ending Pandemic (TM!) crowd. It perpetuates lockdown forever and full, mandatory vaccinations preferred by the Davos crowd. I haven’t quite put my finger on this, but for some reason, too many people in power are adamant about getting all the world accustomed to mandatory and experimental inoculations.
China’s lockdowns, if prolonged, will absolutely hurt global supply chains. This hurts U.S. businesses. Worse yet, it gives the CCP-style lockdown aficionados another chance to promote a return to stay-at-home orders for “a little while longer.”
Back to the alien guy: I’m not saying China is making this up. But I bet they are exaggerating.
The Chinese will just go along. It’s their way.
But lockdowns there do us no favors here.
If the Western world falls for this and thinks we need to go back into lockdowns for mini-outbreaks of mostly non-seriously ill people, then as I have said before – China deserves to win. Blame it on our stupidity. Or as one friend on the Street told me the other day, “Ken, it seems like the Anglo countries have lost the will to live.”
Only one country can stand up to this. It won’t be limp-wristed Trudeau’s Canada. It’s not BoJo’s U.K. or Merkel’s Germany, though the German’s seem to have given up on her lockdown-forever, vaccines-for-all solutions. The whole country has been mired in Covid grift, makes me wonder if Germany is the Brazil of Europe. (It’s not. It’s the China of Europe.)
Who can stand up to the lockdown forever experts: I think it’s got to be the U.S.. If the U.S. is locking down again in the fall to protect against some new “China variants”, then those of us who are moderately happy about “vaccine passports” being shelved will have to think again. The vaccinated will need more vaccines. The unvaccinated will be vilified. The media will attack them like German Shephards in a 60s race riot.
China’s endemic, if at all serious, is a problem for China.
It’s potentially an even bigger problem for us.
Also, on Wofl Warrior cool down, it's just another way China reads the room. We're dealing with snowflakes, Xi says. Let's pretend we, too, are snowflakes. Snowflake....I see you. I hear you. In terms of the new variant, notice how they are blaming Indian and British variants. I didn't even know there was a British variant. This whole China outbreak deserves close watching. The first outbreak, from lockdown to liftoff lasted many two and a half months; three max. With the worst being the first month. So lets see what happens this month.
Wow, Aaron. I did not know that, re: Double Good. I was gonna change the name of this to Shanghai'd, but now you've convinced me to keep the Double Good. I mean....Double Plus. ;)
